Cooking Tips for Busy Mums – Part II

Dear Mums! We are back with the second part of our “cooking tips for busy Mums”!

We hope you find it helpful :)

Tip number 4 – Plan ahead and do your prep on the weekend

Planning ahead is key for a busy mom.

The first step is to figure out how many meals you will have to prepare for that week. Next, you need to make a list of all the ingredients that you will need for those meals. An easier option is to choose meals that require similar ingredients.

Once you have made your plans, go ahead and do all the prep with your ingredients. For example: if you have recipes that require a lot of chopping, go ahead and chop up all those ingredients, making sure you store them appropriately; you can even parboil some vegetables in advance. This is very important, as when the time comes to cook the meals, the only thing you will have to do is to throw everything together!

To be considered: Food processors are a great option to do all the chopping and slicing, saving you even more time in the kitchen!

Tip number 5 – Get creative with leftovers

This is one of the more strategic parts of cooking on a tight schedule!

When you are planning your meals, it’s a good idea to plan for things that will make good leftovers. If you plan it right, you can use your leftovers to create new meals, but still, very fresh and tasty.

Leftovers can save a lot of time and also reduce your meals cost.

To be considered: By keeping in mind tip number 1 – Stock your Pantry – you will easily have the ability to transform your leftovers into whole new meals immediately!

Tip Number 6 – Pack lunches the night before

Busy Mums need to get extra sleep as much as possible!

A good idea to save time in the morning (so you can have that extra 15 minutes in bed!) is pack all the lunches the night before.

This is something you can do with your kids and have fun preparing together. Let them choose from different ingredients/snacks, and then show them how you prepare it. This is a great habit to get into, as not only it strengthens quality Family time, but it also saves some time in the long run.

We hope you can find these tips helpful, but most of all, we hope you have fun and enjoy following them!

And don’t forget: the daily pressure of Family life can consume our peace of mind as easily as they consume our energy. So take a break when you need, adapt when there is need to be flexible and let it go when you can’t control it! :)
