Family Friendly Activities to Beat the Winter Blues

kids-exploring.jpg

It has been cold and icy in many parts of the country, but before we all start feeling low and dreaming of warm & sandy beaches, here is a list of some ways to beat the winter Blues:

Explore Outside: Grab your coats & scarves and get outside! Kids love exploring all the shapes and colours during different seasons. Create games, competitions, exploring expeditions…. the options are endless! And always remember: Kids don’t mind cold weather half as much as we do. Visit FREE Museums: The National Museum of Ireland has a Natural History area, which is perfect for the kids to visit. It is a cabinet-style museum, laid out over four floors. The exhibits showcase a comprehensive zoological collection and have changed little in over a century. The ground floor – known as the Irish Room – is dedicated to animals native to Ireland. The first floor houses more exotic specimens from the Mammals of the World collection. The National Museum of Ireland is a perfect day out for Families! Have a Summer Picnic: Throw a blanket down on the family room floor and pretend you are at the beach. Bring in your lunch, play games and watch summer-themed movies and kids cartoons. Ice cream and swimsuits can complement the fun! Let’s Bake: Kids love to cook and there’s no doubt you can all enjoy some cooking/baking time together! Let everyone pick one recipe and have a ‘bake-off competition’. It’s a lot of fun, plus you have to cook dinner anyway, so why not getting the kids busy too :)
