Staff Spotlight with Jordon

My name is Jordan McGlynn. I am from Kilcock. I’ve lived in the area all my life. Kilcock is about 10 minutes drive from Maynooth.

My motivation to first get into childcare was that I knew the importance of a quality early years education for children and how we help shape their futures. I didn’t have so many of those options available to me as a child and I can see how crucial they are, so from the experience I had, I want to be able to help provide that essential service.

No day is the same, it's always changing. You might have a solid plan in place and then everything goes up in the air and you have to improvise on the spot. It starts off that we get the classroom ready for the children to arrive and then we cater for their interests. The interests they show on a given day we try to incorporate in to our curriculum, so it varies from day to day. There’s no such thing as a typical day!

I love the people I work with. The staff, they’re all very friendly. They’re very welcoming to one another and when you need assistance there’s no shortage of it there. I feel that we can all have stressful days we are all able to come together in a team effort. Apart from the staff, I love coming in to work with the children. Its very rewarding work.

What I enjoy most about Little Harvard is their view on providing a quality years education for children and that they believe in a mixed element of freedom of choice as well as routine-based because it means the children have more control in what they learn out of their experience here.
